It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Oaklands Mead Academy, now proudly part of The Mead Educational Trust.

On behalf of our staff and pupils, thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I hope it gives you a genuine sense of what it means to be part of the Oaklands community. While joining TMET marks an exciting new chapter for our school, our core values remain the same: a deep commitment to the progress, wellbeing and success of every pupil we serve.

Oaklands is a specialist school and an inclusive community where every child is valued as an individual, and our UNIQUE values are at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated staff create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils learn and grow through exploring the world around them. We take a positive, strengths-based approach, building on each pupil’s interests and abilities to deliver personalised, engaging learning that develops confidence, independence and curiosity.

As part of The Mead Educational Trust, we are strengthened by a shared vision across Leicester and Leicestershire that places pupils and their wellbeing at the heart of everything. This partnership enhances opportunities for collaboration, professional development and continuous improvement, ensuring that we continue to provide the highest quality education and care.

We are particularly excited to be entering a new era for Oaklands, with the introduction of our first secondary cohort based at Orchard Mead on Keyham Lane West. This development enables us to provide a consistent approach across primary and secondary phases, supporting continuity in learning, relationships and expectations. It strengthens our ability to maximise progress and to prepare pupils for adulthood, equipping them with the functional skills, resilience and confidence needed to lead happy and fulfilling lives within their communities.

Our innovative ‘inside-outside’ curriculum remains central to this journey, offering meaningful learning across a wide range of environments. Whether in our classrooms, Forest School, growing area, sensory spaces or the wider community, pupils develop essential knowledge, understanding and life skills that support them beyond Oaklands.

I am incredibly proud of our pupils and staff, and of the positive, supportive culture we have built together. We are committed to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and wellbeing, while celebrating the many achievements of our school community.

After exploring our website, if you would like further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We warmly welcome visits to the school—there is no better way to experience Oaklands life first-hand.

Thank you again for your interest.
