Creativity and The Arts
Creativity and the Arts is a vibrant and inclusive area of learning at our school, designed to nurture every pupil’s individual voice. We provide rich, multi-sensory experiences that encourage self-expression, confidence, and enjoyment, ensuring that all learners can access and succeed in creative activities. Religious Education is also woven into our provision and celebrated through special theme days and whole-school events.
Pupils explore a wide range of art forms, including visual arts, music, and movement. Music is integrated across the curriculum, supporting communication, engagement, and emotional regulation through singing, rhythm, and the use of instruments. Activities are carefully adapted to meet diverse sensory, communication, and physical needs.
Through creative exploration, pupils build important life skills such as communication, collaboration, and emotional expression. The arts provide a safe and supportive space where pupils can share ideas, explore feelings, and develop a strong sense of identity and belonging.
We celebrate creativity and belief across our school community, showcasing pupils’ work through displays, performances, and shared RE celebration days. By valuing each child’s unique perspective, we inspire a lifelong appreciation of the arts and foster pride in their achievements.
Science and Environmental Education
A Forest School Practitioner works with the school. Each class has a weekly session in the spinney and the wider school grounds, with some classes extending their learning to local green spaces. They are also developing the school grounds to enable more spaces to be used.
Much of the Science and Environmental Education Curriculum is delivered through Big Days. This enables learning to be delivered in an immersive manner. This is on a three-year cycle and is closely linked to the EYFS and KS1 National Curriculum, preparing our learners for the future.
